A new report has just come out in Britain revealing that children from disadvantaged families are already lagging a full year behind their middle-class contemporaries in social and educational development by the age of three. The study involved 15,500 children born between 2000 and 2002. Three year olds whose parents were university graduates were ten months ahead of those whose parents had few educational qualifications in vocabulary, and twelve months ahead in their understanding of colors, letters, numbers, sizes and shapes.
