Here's a really interesting finding that's just come out: thinking faster makes you feel happier and more energised. This reminds me of Paul Ekman's stuff -- Ekman is the face-reading expert. He found that making particular facial expressions actually induced the corresponding emotion. In the same way, we know when we're feeling jazzed, our thoughts move faster. Now research is suggesting that this works both ways.

The researchers found this out by getting participants to read statements either at a fast pace or a slow pace. They also varied the content of the statements. Interestingly, they found that even when the content was depressing, just reading faster made people feel happier about it.
