There's a new article on my website, on the role of sleep on memory, and I've added to the article collections in pdf format, with a document collecting all the articles in Learning a language, and two documents collecting articles from Parents Corner - one on children's learning and memory strategies, and the other on ways of educating children.

Great new article about functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) - the now standard technique in imaging studies - in the latest issue of The Scientist (I'm afraid free registration is required for this site).
Fot those who are really into the neural side of learning and memory, there's also an excellent article on neural pruning, which may be a factor in the decline in synaptic density and of gray matter that appears to occur in humans during adolescence.
There's also a report on time perception, and another on the effects of nicotine and alcohol on adolescents' brains.

More research confirming the importance of sleep in consolidating learning (see also Science News).
I have to say, however, as a confirmed disturbed sleeper (ie rarely asleep for as much as four hours uninterrupted), I'd like to know what "a night's sleep" means exactly! We may take hope, however, from research suggesting that daytime naps have a similar benefit.
