A new study has come out providing more support for what I've been saying in my books and on my website -- part of retaining (or improving) your memory as you get older is believing that you can, that you have some control over this process.
And here's an article on the latest craze for people who are worried about their cognitive function and believe they can do something to help it -- video games. Nintendo have combined with a neuroscientist to come up with "Brain Training for Adults". The article expresses the case very fairly I thought, and makes the point that I'm always trying to emphasize: mostly, working on a particular task will make you better on that particular task, not improve your brain in general. That's not an argument not to engage in mentally stimulation such as this; just don't expect too much from it.
