An imaging study has found differences in the brains of compulsive hoarders (we're not talking here about those of us who find it hard to throw stuff out, but about those who find it so hard that their homes become a health hazard).
The APA (American Psychological Association) has a FAQ-type article on current knowledge regarding reported memories of childhood abuse. In essence, it says that complete repression of childhood abuse is possible, but extremely rare. And that it is not possible, without corroborative evidence, to tell the difference between a true and a false memory - although I note that recent imaging studies have made progress in this regard.
