Those who follow this blog and the news items I post to my site will be aware of the high profile given to the frontal lobes and the so-called executive processes in recent times. A book on this very subject was recently reviewed - "The Executive Brain: Frontal Lobes and the Civilized Mind" by Elkhonon Goldberg. I haven't read it myself yet, but it sounds good - fascinating and readable. As the review says, "we learn that everything we might ever care about -what makes us human- is mediated by the frontal lobes" - a somewhat alarming comment in view of the research suggesting that frontal lobe function is the region most affected by aging (but see a recent news post suggesting that this is not inevitable).
